Jan Čižmář | lute, theorbo, guitar

Jan Čižmář & Marta Kratochvílová

Jan Čižmář is working with flutist Marta Kratochvílová extensively since 2008. The combination of historical transverse flutes with lute- and guitar-like instruments makes it possible to perform a wide range of styles from the medieval times until romantic era and thus introduce concertgoers to famous hits as well as lesser known masterpieces of renaissance and baroque.

Together they perfomed in concerts in Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Italy, The Netherlands, Poland and Switzerland with their carefuly tailored programmes: A journey across Europe through the centuries, Archive concert and Lauda Francois d‘Assisi. For the concert seasons 2010/2011 and 2011/2012 they have prepared, next to the already mentioned ones, new programmes - Ivory Flute: White gold of the Castle, Intavolatura e Passaggi, Musique de co(e)ur, !FLautenmusik! and Ad libitum...

If you should request it, we can modify each of our programmes to be rather pedagogical, introducing the early music to audiences without previous experience with it. We are also used to do pre-concert events either in the form of introducing our instruments the music in question or historical concept, or as a form of interview with organizers.
In the attachment to this document you can find a pdf file with all promo materials, biographies of artists and details of individual concert programmes.
