As a soloist Jan performs music ranging from renaissance to romantic period. He is using various historical instruments and always aims to get closer to the spirit of the speific period. That means a careful choice of instrument, repertoire, venue and programming appropriate to the event and audience expectations.

Katowice - Akademia Muzyczna (Academy of Music)

Since academic year 2009/2010 is Jan Čižmář a lute teacher at K.Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice, Poland.
At the moment 2-years MMus course is available as well as 2-years postgraduate diploma. BMus course and distance-study option is planned for the future.

Jan is also active as a dedicated teacher. He is lecturing at the Masaryk University in Brno, where he is also giving lessons for lute students (BMus diploma, distance studium). In Katowice Music Academy he is teaching his lute students as part of the MMus and postgradual programma. Apart of that he is regular guest to various institutions giving lectures, presentations and masterclasses with lute and other related instruments. He is regular member of staff at various summer schools and is often invited as a member of jury at various competitions.
It is also possible to arrange private lessons and a concert with presentation of wide variety of instruments and repertoire.
